The world’s largest legal hackathon is coming to Manchester!
With the LegalTech sector growing fast, including the recently launched Manchester Law & Technology Initiative which seeks to aid innovation in the legal sector via academic-industry collaboration, the University & MSP are helping to bring this event to Manchester giving a platform for innovative minds to some together to solve problems facing the legal industry
Hivebrite is the official platform for the GLH19. Register and follow updates on the Manchester Group, useful content will be posted in preparation for Feb 22. You can also post questions and message other participants.
Format of Manchester GLH
Day one – 17.00 – 21.00
Participants get a chance to pitch an idea related to improving legal services or access to justice.
Teams form and choose idea to work on. Participants may form teams prior to the event, but ALL teams must accept participants joining on the day of the event.
Teams beginning hacking!
Day two – 9.00 – 21.00
Hacking continues. Teams will have access to mentors to help guide them in developing their idea.
Day three – 9.00 – 17.00
Teams finalise and deliver a presentation to a judging panel. The judges elect the winning team, runner-up and third place.
Second Round and Third Round
The winning team advances to the second ‘virtual’ round, competing against the other global semi-finalists. Between 8 to 14 teams get to go to the Third Round in New York, where 4 winning teams will be selected.
Competition rules: Every participant must accept and sign them, participants will be sent a link to do so closer to the event date.
While this is a competition, we aim to encourage amicable and respectful cross-collaboration among all participants. The best teams will have a diverse mix of background, experience and skills. Bring an open mind and be ready to have fun!
