Meditation is a simple, yet powerful, practice for training the mind. Originating with mystics and sages in the East thousands of years ago, science is now catching up, with numerous studies demonstrating its positive effect on both our physical and mental health.
In the midst of the unprecedented uncertainty of the current pandemic, where people are suffering with higher levels of stress and fear about the future, a simple meditation practice can make all the difference. It costs nothing, requires no special equipment, and can be practiced anywhere, by anyone, at any time.
In this lunchtime session, join Liane Grimshaw, as she introduces you to the key concepts that underpin this practice, and debunks some of the myths that surround it. As well as sharing her story and knowledge, she will also take the group through a live guided meditation, so you can experience a flavour of the practice for yourself.
Liane discovered the powerful benefits of a consistent meditation practice out of a need to overcome her own depression and severe anxiety. As she openly claims, meditation not only changed her life, and to some degree her personality, it also “saved her mind.”
This session will run as follows:
Introduction and Liane’s journey
An overview of the key concepts
How to ‘do it’ yourself and develop a simple practice
A 10 - 15 minute live guided meditation
Summary and questions
