Who are we? - making sense of the census.

Are you curious about the ever-evolving landscape of Greater Manchester? Join Open Data Manchester and PyDataMCR for an exploration of the 2021 Census, where we’ll dig into this data and share insights about what census tells us about where we live today. 

We’ll being with a few short talks from some guest speakers who will shed light on the significance of the Census, how it’s utilized and why it matters in our ever-changing society.

Speakers include:

  • Shan Wilkinson, Bolton Council
  • Paul Holme, Manchester City Council
  • Mike Doocey, Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Then, we’ll delve into the Census data itself, working in groups to uncover hidden insights and trends. At the end of our data expedition, we'll come together to share anything fascinating that we've discovered.

  • Bring a device if you want to explore the data yourself
  • Come prepared with any questions or lines of inquiry you might have
  • Or simply come along, team up with others in the room and listen to expert advice on hand.
  • Whether you're a data enthusiast, working with the Census or simply a curious resident, this event is for you.
