Auto Trader UK - Manchester
Manchester
About the Role
We're looking for a Product Owner for an exciting new product range for Auto Trader: Transactions.
Our purpose is to drive change together. Responsibly. We are changing how the UK shops for cars by providing the best online car buying experience, enabling all retailers to sell online. We aim to build stronger partnerships with our customers, use our voice and influence to drive more environmentally friendly vehicle choices and create an inclusive and more diverse culture.
To meet the evolving needs of car buyers in the UK, we are transforming. We're becoming a digital marketplace and enabling more of the car buying journey to be done online. From reserving a car online to applying for finance to delivery of the vehicle, our extensive range of solutions requires a Product Owner to be involved in designing, building and commercialising these products.
You'll work with engineers and designers to develop the product strategy and roadmap. You'll be present in all development lifecycle stages and collaborate with market and product marketing colleagues across the business. You'll analyse data and user feedback to optimise product performance.

What we're looking for
- Product Experience working in multi-disciplinary, agile teams. We don’t have Scrum Masters at Auto Trader, rather we prefer that all team members share responsibilities for agile processes and ceremonies. We expect you to spend most of your time working hands on with one or more teams.
- Collaborative problem solver who has experience working with engineers and designers from idea inception to product feature delivery.
- Customer centric mentality who is able to demonstrate learning from customer feedback, behavioural measures and other data sources to understand your users.
- It would be a massive plus if you have experience working with and delivering products for trade customers (B2B) as well as consumers (B2C).
- Someone with a strong understanding of overall business and commercial objectives and can translate them into product priorities.
- Results oriented person who is willing to do everything needed to make their product and team successful, whether that is building a product feature plan or tracking down the root cause of a user’s frustration.
- A strong and clear communicator, able to articulate a vision clearly and explain product complexities to stakeholders with varying levels of understanding.
- A strategic thinker that can operate on multiple horizons, balancing time between focusing on what’s happening now and next, and what needs to happen further into the future.
- eCommerce or finance / fintech experience would be great but is not essential.
Benefits and more
We're offering a competitive salary dependent on experience, and a flexible benefits package to support your health and well-being. You'll have 28 days holiday per year, and that's in addition to bank holidays and half day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve. Our Aviva pension scheme offers between 5% to 7% employer contributions depending on the percentage you choose to contribute, and we provide Bupa healthcare cover for all of our employees.
Our employee assistance programme, enhanced parental leave and share-save options and are just some of the other benefits on offer should you decide to join us.
Career development is something that we're passionate about at Auto Trader, and we all develop and learn things differently. Whether you attend an external conference, utilise a LinkedIn Learning license or choose one of our in-house masterclasses, there's something for everyone.
We are taking a phased return to our offices over the next few months, and they are currently open to our employees voluntarily. We have a range of flexible working options available, which our resourcing team are happy to discuss with you.
