Who we are looking for 

A Junior Data Analyst, who will develop and support systems that provide deep insight into site usage, using innovative data analytic tools and approaches within our forensic monitoring team.

The forensics team monitors and supports key operational teams by capturing and analysing thousands of events per second and identifying patterns of user behaviour. The work we do ensures the health and stability of our core website, which is crucial to providing the best possible customer experience.

This role will give you the opportunity to apply your skills to real-world problems. You will learn cutting edge technologies at a significant scale and be given the guidance and support to develop into an accomplished data analyst, with the ability to present coherent information based on vast amounts of data. 

You will learn how to produce predictive models, including machine learning and code in Python, whilst producing analysis and solutions to drive the correct decisions in the shortest possible time.

You will have the opportunity to influence the technical direction of the team as we continue to evolve and solve new and challenging problems in this area.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.


Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience 

  • Master’s degree level qualification in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a similar field.
  • Strong understanding in machine learning, neural networks, clustering, classification techniques, data mining and optimisation algorithms.
  • Resourceful, creative and inquisitive approach to highly complex tasks.
  • Skilled in analysing large datasets.
  • Ability to present complex data in an understandable way.
  • Basic understanding of SQL.
  • Experience in Python, or similar is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of Excel.
  • Passionate about turning data into actionable insights, with a strong foundation in statistics and programming.


Main Responsibilities

  • Utilising statistical methods and advanced analytics to identify patterns and anomalies in high transaction data.
  • Supporting and helping to develop machine learning models.
  • Performing deep analysis of large datasets to uncover insights and trends relating to suspicious behaviour.
  • Collaborating with key operational teams to understand challenges and support with data science solutions.
  • Designing and maintaining documentation for data science processes, models and findings.
  • Reacting to evolving Business needs and requirements.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry standards.
