HSE’s Information, Technology and Services includes an Enterprise Architecture Team. This team is primarily responsible for the development of an Enterprise Architecture (including Business, Data, Applications and Technology domains), defining and executing technology strategy, and also for directing , designing, and assuring the delivery of new IT Solutions.
You will lead the Data Architecture domain within EA Team, working closely with Business and Application Architecture colleagues. You will direct the development and adoption of Corporate Data Models, Data Architecture principles and Standards
You will have the drive to quickly establish a well-defined understanding of HSE as a whole and linking HSE Data building blocks to HSE business functions and processes. You will understand the strategic data needs of the organisation and use this to develop all aspects of Data Architecture. You will work closely with business stakeholders to ensure data models and definitions are fit for purpose.
You will play a key governance role, ensuring all Solution Designs are strategically aligned from a Data Architecture perspective and compliant with Enterprise Architecture Data standards.

Job description
Your role as Data Architect will include:
• A lead role in the Data Architecture domain within the Enterprise Architecture team
• Support the development of HSE’s Data Strategy and Data Governance framework
• A lead role in the data design (conceptual, logical and physical) underpinning HSE’s new digital services
• Developing Corporate Data Models and definitions
• Assuring that any 3rd party supplier proposals are fit for purpose
• Engagement with stakeholders (at all levels, including Director level) to better understand business objectives and technology challenges
• Helping HSE to maximise the value derived from our data assets, enabling HSE to become even more data led.
• Applying strong communication and influencing skills to both technical and business stakeholders
• Working closely with colleagues in Business Intelligence, Data Science and Statistician teams.
Person specification
Essential Skills and Criteria:
- An experienced Data Architect, operating at the enterprise level, with a track record of developing Corporate Data models
- Experience of formal data modelling notation & definitions
- Demonstrable experience of delivering data architectures, ideally in a regulatory context
- Ability to communicate with & influence business and technical stakeholders
- Ideally with experience of Microsoft Data solutions, including Dynamics 365/Dataverse and Azure.
- Effective facilitation skills, with experience of running workshops with business and technical stakeholders
This post offers a hybrid working pattern where work can be split between your home and your local HSE office, details of which can be discussed prior to taking up the role.
Location is flexible but you will be working as part of a predominantly Bootle based team and you will be required to attend our Bootle HQ for team meetings and workshops on an occasional basis
