This post will be part of the Defence Intelligence (DI) Data Office (DO) leading the Architecture and Engineering Teams, providing essential advice and guidance to DI Chief Data Officer (CDO), DI Chief Information Officer and DI Director Strategy and Enterprise (DI S&E).
As a Grade 6 Data or Technical Architect you will use your experience to ensure that the DI DO is empowered to deliver continuously improving data, platform, and software services to improve intelligence delivery and exploitation to DI, MoD, and our mission partners.
You will ensure that your teams are continuously developed and as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), support talent recruitment and retention. Operating across all classifications and working closely with the DI DO Grade 6 Service Owner you will build a service improvement strategy. You will support the development of technical strategies and with the broader SLT you will communicate these strategies to technical and non-technical communities supporting CDO in delivering a data mesh which supports intelligence and broader MoD requirements.

Job description
Data is at the heart of our business. The DI CDO is responsible for the curation, sharing and use of data for strategic and operational advantage. The Data Office provides data services across DI and wider Government incorporating activities such as data access, discoverability, interoperability and data exploitation. The team also aims to understand the wider data landscape – in use, planned and potential – across MOD, HMG and by our partners and allies, and drive integration.

Person specification
The main functions of the role will include, but not limited to:
- Leading the Architecture and Engineering teams within the DI DO.
- Ensuring that Defence Intelligence improves its digital services to consumers through technical development and operationalisation of innovative techniques and projects.
- Support the DI CDO in the development of Digital Strategies and Dir S&E in the development of the DI 10-year Strategy.
- Provide a clear operational strategy to the DI Data Office.
- Ensure that DI understand the DI Data Office mission and support DI CDO in communications regarding Information and Data Services.
- Drive the development of standards and practices which enable the digital transformation of DI.
- Provide appropriate direction, support and guidance to delivery organisations, single Services and joint functions in order to advance the Single Intelligence Environment and Information
- Advantage in a data centric and service-oriented manner.
You will be based at either Main Building, London, or RAF Wyton with frequent travel to other DI, Defence Digital and Contractor locations as required. This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (the permanent duty station and working from home) as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
