Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within CIO as a Senior BI Design & Integration Manager. The role sits within the CIO Data Team and is focused on the agile development of robust data models within the Data Warehouse, which are delivered in sprints to support the business requirements. It is a key role in supporting the aims of the BI function as it is at the centre of the providing, supporting and maintaining data models accessed via data marts, to ensure reliability and performance in line with the expectations of key stakeholders.
The role is also tasked with supporting, testing, and providing proper resilience of the Data Warehouse, in addition to oversight of the business continuity plan. As a major contributor to the support of key stakeholders, this role interacts with the BI delivery team within the BI function and is also responsible for documenting data models providing clarity to end users and the wider DIO on the structure of the Data Warehouse, associated Data Marts and their views. It is also a key role for interacting with Data Architecture team on the supply of data into the Data Warehouse, ensuring that data is loaded in an accurate and timely manner.
This post is responsible for subordinate Data Warehouse Developers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Agile development of the Data Warehouse to provide a reliable underlying data source for end users across DIO in line with management priorities.
- Manage & implement the building of resilient Data Models and robust design of data marts to support reporting and analytical requirements.
- Manage the creation & development of end-to-end ETL routines using Pentaho, SQL, EDQ and PLSQL.
- Provide technical expertise to the team for Data Warehouse design, development, and implementation.
- Manage the embedding of best practice and continual improvement for all aspects of the Data Warehouse by the identification of more efficient and effective processes.
- Manage & ensure version controls are adhered to for promoting Pentaho jobs into production.
- Identify areas of innovation in future technology changes.
- Manage the loading of data files & implement strategies that ensure business requirements are met.
- Manage the fixing of ETL load failures as a matter of priority to make sure that the DWH is up and running as soon as possible.
- Manage & implement strategies for the monitoring of all ETL jobs to identify any problems and ensure maximum efficiency.
- Manage & implement strategies for the testing of new Developments prior to release.
- Manage the support tasks associated within the Data Warehouse capability.
- Mange & review the EDQ data quality outputs and inform Data Quality team accordingly to resolve any issues.
- Manage the planning of regular maintenance of DWH structure & ETL routines to prevent redundancy & keep the DWH running efficiently.
- Ensure the daily monitoring of Landing Database to ensure regular feed of external data from suppliers.
- Engage with Data Architecture team to agree data transfer and integration requirements for the Data Warehouse.
- Engage with Data Exploitation teams and key stakeholders to identify, plan, develop and deliver data services to meet business requirements.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is produced mapping data from Source to Data Mart.
- Ensure Schema Diagrams are produced to inform report authors of the Data Model structure.
- Work with the Data Warehouse Lead and the wider team on the development of the data Warehouse and its implementation strategy, within the alignment to the overarching vision, mission and goals for Digital, Data and Technology across the department.Responsible for developing and supporting the team, enabling them to deliver departmental goals.

Person specification
Essential Experience:
- Working in a Data Warehouse team creating ETL routines
- A working knowledge of Data Modelling techniques e.g. Star schema
- Previous experience of managing a team
Essential Technical Skills:
- Experience of implementing Data Warehouse concepts.
- Experience of using Databases
- Experience of using ETL tools
Desirable Technical Skills:
- Experience of using an Oracle Database
- Experience of using Data Quality software
