Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Business Analysis in our Digital and Technology Group (DTG).
These are full-time opportunities, on a permanent basis. Please be aware that these roles can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. We are currently operating a hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 40% of contracted hours working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. This may rise to 60% during the year. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

Job description
What’s the role?
The Digital & Service Design group provides a number of services through its practice-based model including user-research, service design, business analysis, change management and product management. D&SDG owns the customer experience for the division and is building its in-house capabilities around Business Analysis, Digital Product Management and User Centred Design.
The Head of Business Analysis is responsible for building and leading a Business Analysis practice for the Agency. You will report directly to the Deputy Director of Digital and Service Design within DTG and will have the opportunity to grow the business analysis team and capability to help deliver MHRA priorities.
You’ll work with multi-disciplinary teams of professionals, including User Centred Design, Product and Change Managers, Solution and Enterprise Architects and Delivery partners. Your work will be pivotal to the development of new digital and data products and services throughout the Agency.
You will be responsible for developing and shaping strategies to drive awareness of the business analysis profession, building the influence of the team and supporting services across the organisation by embedding the practice.
You will also lead the shaping of the Business Analysis practice and improving ways of working by embedding a consistent and high-quality professional framework and standards. You will drive the on-going development of Business Analysis tools and methods, to support the delivery of services within the organisation, providing direction and guidance to the team.
The role will work collaboratively across the MHRA, building strong relationships quickly and working to support and influence senior stakeholders.
Person specification
The successful candidate will have significant experience as a business analyst, delivering customer service and business change. You should have a track record of supporting digital projects within an agile delivery framework to deliver improved services.
You should have a strong track record of being proactive and using horizon scanning to identify future challenges and opportunities for managing them, including anticipating and mitigating risks and finding innovation solutions.
You will have experience of managing teams, developing individuals to grow their skills and capabilities. You will be an experienced relationship builder, able to form strong relationships quickly, understand needs quickly and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
You will be an experienced leader, able to role model inclusive behaviours to promote a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture and set a vision and direction for the team and the wider agency.

Alongside your salary of £70,011, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency contributes £20,282 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.
- Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays
