We are recruiting a Interaction Designer to join our Digital Change Team.
The team supports and governs the design, improvement, and development of Ofsted’s digital services and infrastructure products. We collaborate with Colleague and Customer Technology teams and other parts of Ofsted to ensure effective digital solutions. We help projects adopt User-Centred Design (UCD) and design-driven development, ensuring that the services we buy or build truly meet user needs. The team provides expertise in User Research, Content Design, and Interface Design, alongside Architecture evaluation—considering how systems are or could be structured. The team includes User Researchers, Content Designers, and specialists in Technical, Information, and Enterprise Architecture.
As an Interaction Designer you will play a key role in the design team, working to create and enhance our web-based digital services. You will help rebuild and improve Ofsted’s digital services, websites, and systems. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure user-focused, effective solutions.

Technical skills

- Core design skills of wireframe and prototyping including using design tools and/or HTML and CSS; willingness to develop relevant skills if needed.
- Strong ability and experience working within in a multidisciplinary team, designing user interactions on user needs, and using research and metrics to refine and improve services.
- Good understanding of web technologies and their impact on design, including the ability to create accessible services (e.g. WCAG 2.2).
- Experience of using styles and patterns for consistent experience (e.g. System and components).
