Lead DevOps Engineer - MoD - G7

We are looking for a Team Leader for our MOD Cloud Delivery Team to take ownership of our secure Amazon Web Services live environment. Within this role you’ll be responsible for setting the strategic direction and vision for the Delivery team. The role will utilise and embed DevSecOps and Agile methodologies to ensure secure and efficient delivery.  

Responsibilities

As the team leader for the MODCloud AWS platform you will be responsible for;

• Managing the live service using DevOps principles, acting as a technical product owner, setting vision and goals for its continuing development and iteration.
• Ensuring the security of the platform in operation and development.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance through coaching and mentoring and lead the sharing of knowledge and good practice.
• Champion learning, development and accreditation, cultivate talent and foster an inclusive, diverse and motivated workforce within the MOD Cloud team.
• Ensuring the MOD Cloud Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) is regularly appraised of appropriate risks and mitigations.
• Working closely with other MOD Cloud teams, including Cyber Security, Service Management and Design teams to ensure platform integrity.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you will possess demonstrable experience in Platform Development Operations (DevOps) within a cloud environment. You will have a proven ability to act as a technical product owner, developing and articulating medium to long-term strategies for the product. Strong technical leadership skills are essential, including the capacity to provide effective guidance through coaching and mentoring team members. You will also be adept at fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and promoting good practices within the team. You'll bring a thorough understanding of modern development standards and methodologies, alongside a strong awareness of managing cyber security risk and information security principles.
