Join our team as a Senior ServiceNow Developer and help shape the future of workflow solutions! You'll play a pivotal role in driving impactful changes, introducing innovative features, and improving existing workflows through automation.
The team works internally-facing, building strong relationships with our stakeholders in the wider DfE ecosystem as well as external suppliers. We collaborate very closely with functions across the Technology directorate, keeping processes, tech capabilities, accessibility, UX, and platform capabilities baked into the design from the early stages.
We balance BAU, continuous improvement, new requests, onboarding of new services, keeping up with the latest ServiceNow developments, and identifying and leveraging technology to bring further benefits to our users and the business.
You will:
- Work closely with the product manager to identify opportunities and shape the roadmap.
- Keep up to date with ServiceNow developments and opportunities they may create for the department.
- Lead a team of talented ServiceNow developers supporting their learning and development.
- Manage performance of the technical team.
- Set and promote high standards of work.
- Build a supportive, transparent, and collaborative working environment.
- Provide support with administration, application development, maintenance, and technical support by using good practice web programming techniques to configure robust solutions.
Please note:
- Cover is required between 8am and 5pm with core working hours of 9am – 4pm. Some flexibility may be shown and can be discussed with the successful applicant.
- Regular travel to Coventry is required for this role.
- This post will require the candidate to pass security Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) vetting before passing probation.
Person specification
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in modern coding standards and development techniques.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience and knowledge of the ServiceNow platform (ITSM, ITOM).
- Proven ability to lead technical workshops and engage stakeholders of all levels.
- High level of experience with Agile methodologies and user-centered design (UCD).
- Skilled in integrations, automation, and orchestration using workflows, scripting, APIs, and IntegrationHub.
- Experience of optimising development processes and system design.
- Proven understanding of information security principles.
- Experience in designing and supporting robust systems.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of other modules of ServiceNow platform.
- Line management experience.
- Experience supporting, coaching, and mentoring less experienced software developers.
- Experience of CI/CD, DevOps, modern development workflows.
- Experience with CMDB/CSDM.
- ITIL 4 certification.
Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.
