Job description

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be using modern tooling to develop CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains where you will strive to put automation at the heart of everything you do.

You will craft and implement solutions that are highly available, resilient, scalable, extensible, and maintainable within multiple cloud environments.

Working across the organisation you will be pushing a mindset change to foster engineering ownership, and the importance of the integrity and maintenance of the services we deliver.

Other responsibilities will include working across product-focussed teams to gather requirements, evaluate tools, implementing/updating solutions, provision environments, and assisting with operational issues.

Based out of Newcastle and Manchester, Payments are core to DWP. They are the biggest payer in the UK, serving 22m citizens which is 34% of the total UK population and make circa £230bn in payments annually generating 1/3 of the UK’s BACS traffic.

We are delivering an ambitious transformation programme to reimagine and make best use of emerging future technologies in the banking industry to continue to ensure that people who get paid by DWP receive the right amount of money, at the right time into the right bank account.

Based out of Sheffield, Manchester and Newcastle, Identity and Trust (ID&T) are building next generation Authentication, Authorisation, and Accounting (AAA) services built on common standards like OAuth2 and SAML. This enables the DWP to provide a common front door for citizens to access our services across diverse channels like web, telephony, and agent. When joining ID&T you’ll be working on a delivery squad of around 10 people building and maintaining services that fit this vision.

Based out of Newcastle and Manchester, Integration are looking for three DevOps engineers to help with the event and API platforms that are core to connecting DWP Digital services.

The successful candidate for the Event Platform will ideally have Kafka experience and will play a pivotal role taking our DWP event platform to the next level as we further scale up and evolve our event patterns to support event driven architecture across the organisation. A solid foundation of building event platforms and bringing others along on the journey will be key to success.

The successful candidates for the API Platform will ideally have experience of Kong and will play a significant role ensuring our DWP API platform is able to scale and meet future demand as we begin the next part of our journey.
