Senior Interaction Designer - MHCLG - G7
Government Digital & Data -
Here at the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG), we work on things that make a real difference to people’s lives.
Whether it's through the homes we live in, the work of our local councils, or the communities we’re all part of, our work is at the top of the political agenda. We have ambitious and far-reaching outcomes to achieve this year and, if you’re thinking of joining us, there’s never been a more exciting time.
We have over 3,500 staff who are based in 20 offices across the UK.
The Senior Interaction Designer will be part of our Elections Digital team at MHCLG. It’s an exciting time to improve and expand the electoral services in Public Beta to meet users’ needs better.
The Elections Directorate is a welcoming and inclusive team. We are responsible for a challenging and dynamic portfolio, always in the public eye, covering electoral policy and law and development and delivery of a suite of digital services, including Register to Vote.
We are at the start of an exciting new programme of work to implement key manifesto commitments set out by the new Government, through primary and secondary legislation, and digital and operational delivery. The commitments include:
- Increasing engagement of young people by enfranchising 16- and 17-year-olds.
- Improving voter registration to increase the number of people correctly registered to vote.
- Reforming voter identification rules to improve accessibility for all electors.
We need to improve the understanding of the users and their needs, assess the users’ experience of our services and test design ideas, focusing on people with disabilities and people who don’t have access to the internet or lack the skills or confidence to use it. Your work will benefit millions of people use our services each year to vote in the UK.
We particularly welcome candidates from an ethnic minority background and other underrepresented groups to apply, as we work to continually improve our ability to represent the places and communities we support through our work.
