Senior Technical Architect – File & Data

Location: National*

Salary: London: £58,847- £78,225 (which may include an allowance of up to £19,378). National: £54,358- £73,450 (which may include an allowance of up to £19,092).

Working pattern: Full time, part time, flexible working.

The Role

We’re recruiting for a Senior Technical Architect - Data here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Compute Services team.

This role aligns against Senior Technical Architect from the Government Digital and Data Framework.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in modernising how unstructured file data services are provided to our end users and keeping the departmental data secure.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design and Architecture

  • Lead the design and architecture of file and data services within end user compute, ensuring alignment with the Justice Digital and wider MoJ goals and strategies.
  • Develop technical specifications and standards for the existing on premises file shares and work collaboratively with business stakeholders to build out future state modern services in SharePoint Online.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide expert guidance and direction to the multi-disciplinary product teams responsible for the File and Data management, promoting best practices and ensuring successful delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as a subject matter expert across the on premises storage platforms from vendors like Dell and NetApp as well as modern, cloud native services such as SharePoint Online, staying up to date with the latest advancements and contributing to the roadmap for their strategic implementation.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with Technical Architects within EUCS but also throughout Technology Services and across the MOJ to ensure seamless integration of File and Data capabilities aligned to business needs..
  • Engage with our Demand, Business Relationship Managers and Solutions Architects to understand the requirements of the different agencies within MOJ and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and alignment.

Technical Documentation

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for the relevant File and Data components including architecture diagrams and design documentation.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Technical Expertise – Extensive experience in technical architecture, including designing scalable and secure systems. Proficiency in on premises and cloud native file services and data architecture. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.
  • Strategic Thinking - Ability to align technical decisions with organisational goals. Forward-thinking, anticipating future challenges and opportunities. Pragmatic problem-solving skills.
  • Data Security and Compliance – In-depth knowledge of data security best practices, access control and compliance requirements required in a Government organisation handling data classified as OFFICIAL. Experience in preserving organisational data structure and policies during a migration project.
  • Leadership and Collaboration – Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide technical and non-technical teams. Outstanding communication skills, including the capacity to translate complex technical challenges into non-technical solutions for stakeholders at all levels ensuring their understanding and buy-in.
  • Adaptability and Resilience - Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to changing priorities. Resilience in the face of challenges, maintaining focus on outcomes. Willingness to learn and stay updated on emerging technologies.
