Roles based in London will receive an additional London Weighting of £3,847. Roles based in Stevenage will receive an additional South East allowance of £3,078. If applying on Secondment and you are the equivalent grade you will remain on your current salary for the duration of your Secondment. Recruitment and Retention Allowance: This is currently set at £3,000 for this post. The RRA is an enhancement to the role and is reviewed annually.

However, as that site will not be operational until early 2025 in the interim period you will be required to carry out your contractual duties from Vauxhall, or such other reasonable location, on a temporary basis. For the avoidance of doubt as your contractual place of work is Stratford, the move from any temporary place of work will not give rise to any entitlement to payments for travel time or costs under the Relocation and Excess Travel Policy.

OcaD - Operational Capability & Development
Operational Capability and Development are responsible for the development and delivery of strategic and tactical engineering solutions to operational challenges and emerging technological threats focused on serious and organised crime impacting the UK.
Deployment of hi-end capabilities in support of live operations, providing NCA with capabilities for 21st century law enforcement. OCaD leads on specifying, designing, developing, delivering and supporting new technical operational capabilities across the agency.

Specialist Operational Services
The Specialist Operational Services (SOS) is a critical function within the DDaT Enterprise Services (ES) Department. It provisions specialist digital capabilities and technical support to operational officers, assisting them in tackling the highest harm SOC threats.
The function is key to realising the new NCA Strategy by maintaining specialist capabilities as well as developing new cutting-edge tools in fight to keep pace with criminal exploitation of emerging technologies.
Target Intercept Engineering provides technical management of IT infrastructure and systems that underpin the NCA TI capability. DF.net team are responsible for the Digital Forensics IT network and support operational applications via their networks.
The team combines IT professionals and operational law enforcement experts to ensure that specialist services are operationally fit for purpose, legally compliant and delivered 24/7.
Both teams have a requirement to be on call out of general office hours on a rota basis. Successful candidates may have a requirement to join this rota.

**To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role and achieve DV clearance within the first 12 months in post.**

Key Responsibilities
In a team of IT professionals, the infrastructure engineer will be using their skills and expertise to:
- Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of technical capabilities.
- Participate in building new services on multiple platforms, maintaining core functionality and providing technical guidance for colleagues across the Unit.
- Gather, record and document customer requirements within the agency for remote Intelligence applications and define detailed requirements including use cases, and feature specifications.
- Manage software defects, ensuring they are tracked, investigated and corrected whether found within internal or third-party software.
- Work collaboratively with the service support, infrastructure teams and non-technical user groups. Identify issues which will involve other teams, facilitate and support fault resolution and project handover.
- Manage the life-cycle of own projects and those of others including design, testing, change, deployment and acceptance management.
Along with the above if you are posted with the SOS team you will also be responsible for the following;
- Technical Leadership: Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of technical capabilities
Building new services: Help develop and build new services on multiple platforms, maintaining core functionality and providing technical guidance for colleagues across DDaT and the wider NCA. - Service Support: Maintain and support SOS services, providing first and second-line support to DDaT customers for any incidents or issues.
- Communication: Build working relationships with colleagues across the technical community to develop skills and cross-functional working.
- Collaboration: Share and disseminate knowledge and findings across the broader technical and NCA community as appropriate.
Desirable Criteria:
- Security and networking principles
- Experience of working on secure government systems
- Networking experience and/or qualifications
- Experience of Windows/Linux administration
- Administration and design of VMware/hyperV systems
- The administration and configuration of digital forensics tools

In the event of a tie-break at interview, the panel will progress the candidate with the highest score in the leading technical criteria to determine merit order. If the leading technical criteria scores are still tied, the panel will then assess desirable criteria to determine merit order. If scores are still tied following the review of desirable criteria, then the panel will revert to sift scores to determine merit order.
Qualifications
The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:
Degree or HND/HNC in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electronics or Engineering or equivalent Level 4 technical qualification or substantial relevant experience.
