This role is offered as part of our TechTrack apprenticeship programme, and is for an apprentice Business Analyst.
Our provider for the Business Analyst TechTrack Apprenticeship will be BPP.
Job description
Business analysts help teams to:
- Analyse and refine understanding of business problems or opportunities.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis to delineate how a specific business or its area operates, encompassing people, organisation, processes, information, data, and technology considerations.
- Identify and develop strategies for improvement, explore viable alternatives, analyse the implications of changes, and establish metrics for success.
- Recognise and adhere to business and policy constraints, evaluating their implications diligently.
- Make critical decisions regarding project prioritisation and the scope of the minimum viable product based on analytical insights.
- Ensure the alignment of new products and services with business objectives and user needs.

As a Tech Track Business Analyst you will receive direction from senior business analysts. At this level, you will work with others or under supervision to build and develop your skills.
Skills you will gain during the apprenticeship
Agile Working:
You will understand agile ways of working and be able to deliver, adapt, and reflect using techniques from agile frameworks. By the end, you'll have experience in both Agile and Waterfall environments.
Business Analysis:
You will assist in analysing business goals. Using data to make informed decisions, define requirements, and ensure solutions meet business needs. You'll gain experience with tools and techniques for analysing internal and external business problems including investigation techniques.
Business Process Modelling:
You’ll understand how to model complex business processes and work under direction to support process improvements. By the end, you'll have experience with process modelling techniques such as UML & BPMN, reviewing current processes, and creating future improvements.
Requirements Elicitation and Management:
You will elicit, analyse, document and manage business and user requirements. You'll gain experience with writing requirements such as, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Considering the perspective of the user in writing, testing and implementing requirements.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
You will identify and manage relationships with stakeholders and communicate regularly with them under supervision and use stakeholder analysis techniques to understand their needs and wants.

Person specification
We are looking for people who can demonstrate their love of technology, and their eagerness to learn and grow their careers in Government Digital and Data.

We would like applicants to have some of the following things:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office program suite (or equivalent software package)
- Experience of working on business change initiatives
- Have the ability to plan, organise and structure work
- Have good interpersonal skills
And it would be good, but not essential, if you already have:
- A basic understanding of project management concepts
- A basic understanding of software design concepts
- An ability to communicate technical concepts to peers through written documentation
- Awareness of your own development needs
- Confidence to demonstrate your work, give feedback and ask for help

Applicants must:
- Be over 16 years old
- Have permission to live and work in the UK
- Have an eligibility residency status:
Applicants must not:
- Be in receipt of a student loan
- Be on another Department For Education funded training programme, including another apprenticeship.
- Hold a prior qualification at the same or higher level in a subject similar to the apprenticeship.
