Job summary
As a Technology Delivery Manager, you will be part of the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) Project Management Office (PMO) Enabling Tech team, working to help deliver and support Microsoft 365 (M365) apps within agreed timescales, to cost and quality standards. You will form a partnership with the M365 Service Specialist to deliver value against the vision. You will also work with a variety of stakeholders, translating technical concepts where necessary.
You will be expected to work with flexibility, selecting and applying appropriate delivery techniques as required, based on your delivery experience. You will be responsible for getting the best out of the available people resources, providing support and protecting them from external influences that may affect successful delivery.
You will work with suppliers, user organisations and colleagues in ESMCP, and you may be asked to support ESMCP Commercial colleagues when contracts need organising and negotiating.
You will be required to facilitate meetings and select the right people to join these discussions. As part of the Digital Champions community, you will contribute to communities of practice to absorb and share knowledge and help to set good practice and standards across the Programme and beyond.
Job description
Your main day to day responsibilities will be:
- Translating product roadmaps and features into an achievable delivery plan, considering the people and skills required and predicting milestones based on forecasts where possible
- Delivering in line with your team’s capacity and availability, developing an understanding of the relevant frameworks to leverage user needs when necessary, and planning effectively for resourcing requirements
- Actively managing risks, issues, and dependencies for your delivery team, acting on delivery data and adapting ways of working to mitigate risks
- Partnering with the M365 Service Specialist and ESN Communications team to develop communication approaches so you can effectively engage with and influence relevant stakeholders, translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Monitoring trends in team performance and effectiveness and help with engaging and motivating the team as required
- Using feedback loops, data analysis, and small experiments to iteratively improve products, services, and ways of working within the delivery team.
This post is eligible for a Reward and Retention Allowance (RRA). Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview and reviewed annually in line with departmental policy.
The role will require travel to London to attend team meetings at least once a month, if based in Bristol. Applicable travel and subsistence costs will be met by the Business. Also, due to the busy nature of the role, the post holder will be required to work full-time working pattern.
Candidates should take this into consideration before submitting their application.
