Job description
This is a high-profile, fast-paced and wide-ranging HEO role, located at the centre of government and offering the opportunity to demonstrate and develop skills in senior stakeholder management, cross government engagement, and policy design and delivery.
In particular, you will be a part of delivering
- a strong, thriving and trusted governance function that enables cross-government data strategies and initiatives to achieve their goals, through support of the Chief Data Officers Council, the Open Standards Board and the Data Standards Authority Steering Board
- progression and improvement of government’s data capability, effectiveness and readiness through the implementation of the Data Maturity Assessment (DMA) for Government
- improvements in how the public sector manages data by establishing frameworks and standards to make it easier and more effective to share and use data
The successful candidate will work across teams in the Data Standards and Strategy directorate and on a wide range of governance groups, working groups and projects. You will provide a high-quality secretariat function for the senior decision-making bodies, engaging directly with senior leaders. There will be opportunity to take the lead in some areas and shape the programmes of the governance and working groups
Person specification
This role requires:
- strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities
- excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage with peers and senior leaders
- excellent stakeholder management skills - able to gain the interest and active support of internal and external stakeholders
- policy and/or engagement experience
- experience working in a complex government or corporate environment
- an interest in, or familiarity with, government’s management/use of data

CDDO offers hybrid working for all employees. This means that everyone does some working from home and also spends some time in their local office. You’ll agree to your hybrid working arrangement with your line manager in line with your preferences and business needs.

Selection process details
The standard selection process for roles at CDDO consists of:
- a simple application screening process - We only ask for a CV and cover letter of up to 750 words. Important tip - please ensure that your cover letter includes how you meet the skills and experience listed in the “person specification” section above
- a 60 minute video interview
Depending on how many applications we get, there might also be an extra stage before the video interview, for example a phone interview or a technical exercise.
