The Home Office Networks and Infrastructure Delivery team manages the execution of network/Infrastructure projects to meet customer demands and deliver on departmental strategy. By implementing robust delivery governance across the portfolio we reduce risk, maximise efficiency and ensure technical and security compliance. Proactive engagement is essential to assess and evaluate each project and demand, working closely with engineering team members and key stakeholders such as Home Office, Home Office Cyber Security, Networks & Infrastructure, Senior Management Team, customers, and suppliers. The work we do delivers services across the Home Office maintaining vital capability and systems critical to national security.

As a Senior Technology Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for delivering projects within agreed timescales, to cost and quality standards. Depending on work allocation, you may be responsible for multiple concurrent smaller projects or a single larger team delivering a more complex project. You will work in close partnership with Networks & Infrastructure (N&I) Leadership to deliver value against the strategic vision and customer requirements. You will work with senior stakeholders, effectively translating technical concepts and influencing where necessary.

What You'll Do:

  • Translating customer requirements and departmental strategic objectives into delivery plans, considering the people and skills required for each delivery team and using delivery data to set milestones and make commitments based on forecasts.
  • Delivering in line with the capacity and availability of the delivery teams, leveraging frameworks to find the right suppliers when necessary, and budgeting effectively for resourcing needs.
  • Effectively managing risks, issues, and dependencies, acting on delivery data and adapting ways of working to mitigate risks.
  • Forming effective relationships and working to influence relevant senior stakeholders, translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Assessing the effectiveness across multiple delivery teams, engaging and motivating teams in different ways depending on their needs, and facilitating collaboration across delivery teams when required.
  • Acting a senior member of the N&I Delivery team and contributing to the overall continuous improvement effort to enhance our service offering and improve our processes.

Essential skills:

  • Acting as the Delivery Manager for one or more delivery teams through a complete delivery lifecycle.
  • Using experience of technology delivery and technical practices to help translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Creating and maintaining delivery plans that highlight forecasts/estimates and manage to budget and timescales.
  • Using your well-developed people skills to set individuals up for success and help create an effective team environment.
  • Applying appropriate techniques taken from different methodologies to effectively deliver successfully within a given context.
  • Understanding what good project governance looks like and how to implement improvements.

Additional Information:

  • This role requires SC clearance. To meet national security vetting requirements, you must typically have been resident in the UK for at least five years. Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor visas.
