Equitus Design Engineering and Innovations has taken a strategically crucial step in strengthening its UK operations after being entered in the register of suppliers to the aerospace, defence and security sectors.
JOSCAR (the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register) is valued by some of the largest purchasers in the defence community, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), BAE Systems and Babcock International.
The register - an accreditation system set up by ADS and Hellios specifically for the aerospace, defence and security sectors - is strictly invitation-only and requires successful completion of a qualification process.
Raam Shankar founded Equitus Design Engineering and Innovations six years ago, a business which boasts four further separate yet integrated companies; Equitus World, Equitus Engineering, Equitus Design and Equitus Innovations.
The company has bases in London, Bangalore and Manchester.
He said: “Equitus has a strong history as a supplier to UK defence projects having solved complex problems for companies including Cavendish.
“One of our clear ambitions is to strengthen our position as a supplier to these critical sectors in the years ahead.
“Equitus has for a long time proven we meet the standards of procurement so it is of great importance that we now have JOSCAR accreditation.”
Other clients Equitus has worked with include the European Space Agency, Magtec, Pall Corporation, Sellafield, STFC, Centrax Gas Turbines, AMOT Corporation and Kawasaki.
Raam, 41, contributed to Greater Manchester’s Local Industrial Strategy and sits on the TiE UK North board.
He is also an advisor to companies in the UK, India, Silicon Valley and UK India Trade Portal.
