Trunk steps in to the ring with Manchester-based Corner and Ultimate Boxxer

Two Manchester companies are behind an industry-first, digital draw which has been used to choose competitors in the upcoming Ultimate Boxxer event and formed the event’s digital and TV advertising campaign.

Ancoats-based, Trunk, won a four-way pitch to work with Ultimate Boxxer and Mansion Bet in September. Following the win, it partnered with Corner, the smart boxing tracking app, and created a technology-based challenge to determine the bouts – a first of its kind in the boxing industry.

The eight professional light heavyweight boxers were each filmed by Trunk taking part in power and speed boxing challenges, using Corner’s technology, which has also been adopted by Team GB’s Olympic boxers. The competitors then received scores which have decided who will fight who at the Ultimate Boxxer event which takes place on Friday 2nd November at the Indigo o2 London.

Trunk then took the pre-event footage to create ‘The Ultimate Boxxer Challenge’ series which is presented by Boxing legends Ricky Hatton and Anthony Crolla and iFL TV creator, Kugan Cassius. The episodes will be shown on Instagram TV, support the live broadcast of the tournament on channel 5Spike and SportBible and be used across Ultimate Boxxer’s owned channels.

Benjamin Shalom founder and managing director of Ultimate Boxxer said: “We were extremely impressed with Trunk’s creative and technology focused response to our brief. Thanks to them we have been able to execute an industry leading approach to our selection process and we’re excited to see how this plays out on the night.

“Having seen some of the agency’s previous work we knew there was a talented team that could fulfil our big ambitions for this event. We’re also delighted to announce that, following the success of this project, we will be working alongside Trunk on all of our bi-monthly events in 2019.”

Adam Britton, managing director of Trunk, said: “We wanted to do something revolutionary for Ultimate Boxxer and instantly thought about Corner’s boxing technology. Doing this has also resulted in some great, longer content episodes that are promoting the event across digital and TV channels.”

Ricky Hatton commented on the draw process: “Using boxing technology and challenges has been a great way to do the draw rather than picking numbers using a ball machine like we see in other sports. It’s a wonderful way to have come to the conclusion and I can’t wait to see these knockout rounds at the o2.”

Ultimate Boxxer will take place on Friday 2nd November at the Indigo o2 arena. It will be shown on SportBible and 5Spike. For full details and tickets visit https://www.ultimateboxxer.com/.
