Kao Data launches report on how the North West is well placed to become an AI Growth Zone

Kao Data, which is developing a £350m data centre in Stockport, has today launched a new report, looking at why the North West is the ideal location for a new AI Growth Zone.

The report coincides with the new Data Centre Summit taking place today at Manchester Central, which was spearheaded by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA).

Kao Data’s Chief Commercial Officer Spencer Lamb will be giving a keynote speech on the need for the UK to diversify its compute to new hubs like Greater Manchester. Spencer will also be taking part in a panel discussion on the positive impact data centres can have on society, as evidenced by Kao Data’s Stockport SEED Fund intuitive.

In the new report, Spencer says, “As we begin to build our first hyperscale-inspired data centre outside of London, in Greater Manchester, and commit £350m of inward investment into the region, I have already witnessed so much of its exciting tech ecosystem and its amazing community, and can see the hugely exciting potential for growth in AI.

“The establishment of a UK Government-led AI Growth Zone here would not only capitalise on existing strengths but catalyse further innovation and economic prosperity for the region and its wider communities.

“This new report presents a compelling case for Greater Manchester and the wider North West region as the ideal location for one of the next UK AIGZs.”
