We kicked off with some introductory talks around the history of KMP the different services that we offer. Straight away, we knew that the students were bright and bubbly and were eager to learn more as they were engaged, enthusiastic and asked a lot of questions.
The NCS students then presented to us a practice pitch that they were due to give the following day at a mock dragons den event competing against several other student groups. They were tasked with coming up with an idea that could help change, grow and improve any organisation of their choice.
The NCS programme is designed for 15 to 17 year olds to take on new challenges, learn new skills and meet new people.
We couldn’t be more excited for NCS – we believe this innovative programme truly gives young people the chance to develop key life skills and to make a positive contribution to their communities. It’s a great way for young people to boost their CVs, gain lifelong skills and lifelong memories.
After the pitch the forward-thinking students also received some pitching and public speaking tips from KMP’s New Business Director Gez Daring and Head of Client Services Simon Haven.
Gez Daring said: “I am really proud to show my support for National Citizen Service and to hear their brilliant innovative ideas. For us to engage and talk with these talented young people is inspiring. I know that programmes like NCS can create different opportunities for young people to do things they never thought they would have the chance to do. After hearing their pitch I hope that more young people are inspired to take part in NCS and showcase their fantastic potential.”
The 16 and 17-year-olds will face a panel of dragons to formally present their idea in return for a £50 investment. Gez will be acting as a dragon for another pitch event next week at Stockport’s Masonic Hall. Fingers crossed guys we’re rooting for you!
