At Manchester Digital, we like to interview our members to find out a bit more about what they do and their work in the Greater Manchester digital and technology sphere. This week we're speaking with Flexible Workspace Advisor, Sam Harris from Level.
Can you give us a quick introduction about yourself?
Level is workspace advisory specialist. We represent tenants (NOT Landlords) when it comes to helping them find a new workspace. We are specialists on office searches and negotiation, ensuring our clients find the best workspace for their people at the best value for their business.
What are some top insights you can share on current trends and changes in the flexible workspace market?
There has been a huge surge in flexible workspaces launching across Manchester which means that Manchester businesses have a significant opportunity to take high quality workspaces with significant levels of amenity at a really competitive price point. Many businesses are utilising flexible workspace as a testbed to understand what the future of work looks like at their organisation.
As remote work persists, what do you see as the biggest benefits and drawbacks companies should consider?
The biggest benefits are a reduction in real estate costs as firms look to become more nimble in what is quite tough market conditions. However, one thing to really consider from what has been fed back to us in the marketplace is personal development. Many people love to learn from working alongside more experienced peers and having human connection in the office allows them consistent access to that experience.
Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, what major shifts or developments do you anticipate in how companies leverage workspaces both in office and remotely?
Businesses are working in different ways and they all value amenity. ‘SAAS – Space as a service’. There has been more of a hospitality feel to workspace over the last few years and we see that continuing as businesses value a premium service and significant levels of amenity to encourage collaboration in the work place and more businesses utilise workspace as a method to attract and retain talent.
