The deadline for this years Big Chip Awards for North West companies excelling in the use of digital technology has been extended from Monday 1st March to Monday March 8th 2010.
Since the launch of the Game of the North Award and the Big Chip International Award for Innovation in 2008, interest in the Big Chip Awards outside the North West has been growing. In response this years awards mark the launch of two more North of England awards the brand new Little Chip Student Award for exceptional student achievement and the Big Green Chip Award.
Students intending to enter the Little Chip Student Award have a little longer to submit their entry as special arrangements have be made to allow them until the end of the academic term 5pm Friday 26th March
Awards organiser Manchester Digital is inviting companies from all sectors across the North-west to submit their entries for the 2010 awards by the extended date of 5pm Monday March 8th 2010 and educational institutions to submit entries by 5pm Friday 26th of March for the Little Chip Student Award.
Entries are submitted online at www.bigchipawards.com. The first two entries are free. Subsequent entries cost 75. The extended closing date for entries is Monday 8th March 2010 or 5pm Friday 26th of March for the Little Chip Award.
The Big Chip Awards will be announced at a luxurious awards dinner on Thursday 10th June 2010 at the Palace Hotel, Manchester.
Organised by Manchester Digital, the trade association for the regions digital sector, with support from regional bodies such as Liverpool Vision and the Manchester Digital Development Agency, the awards are open to any organisation based in the North West that has designed or commissioned any digital projects in the past year. This can include website, DVD, animation, wireless or SMS projects.
Chair of Manchester Digital, Shaun Fensom, said: Its very exciting to be ushering in the 12th Big Chip Awards. The level of interest this year has been high and we are happy to announce we have re-arranged the judging process to give companies a little more time to complete their entries.
The past twelve years have seen a transformation in the way we live our lives. The growth of The Big Chip Awards celebrate how forward thinking digital companies and creative agencies across the North West and beyond are taking the lead in creating the technology that will define the next decade.
