Manchester Digital is setting up an Employers Forum to continue our work in developing and keeping the next generation of digital talent in the region and to address some of the issues raised at our Skills Summit back in February. The Forum will be the channel for digital businesses to raise their skills concerns and issues and by working together, develop solutions.
The Forum will:
- Work to address the issues highlighted at the annual skills summit
- Encourage businesses to offer work experience opportunities and develop a mechanism for this to become more beneficial to both businesses and students and embedded into the sector’s culture
- Identify common areas of under provision/performance and work with the relevant universities and training providers to remedy this.
- Promote awareness of the careers and opportunities on offer for students in the NW.
- Implement a matching/brokerage system for graduates with opportunities available in the region.
- Promote networking between students and businesses.
- Deliver events aimed at helping students to become more ‘business ready’ for the digital companies in the region.
- Develop the content in the Student Zone so it becomes the place for students to go when looking for tips and advice for a career in digital.
- Help plan and design TalentDay2013.
