Help us find new ideas to make Manchester Smarter

We are asking companies to contribute to a market consultation process where there is an opportunity to suggest digital solutions that could address one or more of the issues raised during the City Centre Review. A short application process will get your ideas in front of city decision makers and help inform us on a second phase where we may go out to market for solutions.

Our aim is to identify a number of technological needs for some small scale demonstration pilots. By putting your ideas into our market consultation now, you can help us understand what is out there or what could be improved.

For the avoidance of doubt, responding to the market consultation will not place you in a more favourable position at tender stage, and likewise declining will not exclude you from tendering. The responses to the exercise will be used exclusively for the Council’s information.

This market consultation is part of CityVerve, which is Manchester’s Smart City Demonstrator, a consortium of 21 partners led by Manchester City Council funded by Innovate UK and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

CityVerve aims to provide a step-change to how cities use the internet of things to deliver smarter services.

The market consultation process gives us an opportunity to address current challenges within Manchester – providing an opportunity for new ideas to be presented, developed and supported as part of CityVerve.

We have made the process of submitting your ideas straightforward, with documents about the City Centre Review downloadable from the NW Chest procurement portal, and during the 2 week consultation process, responses and enquiries can be sent directly to smartcity@manchester.gov.uk

This process is separate from the tender process that will follow and this will follow normal practice regarding public sector procurement.
