Samsung’s Vlad Botic has called for businesses to reassess their processes and policies, and question whether they are still applicable in today’s digital workplace. Speaking to a wide range of organisations at Apadmi’s cross-industry forum in Manchester, Samsung Electronics’ Head of Mobility Architecture asserted that, “We are now in a ‘third phase’ of IT evolution where disruption and the opportunities presented by big data, social, cloud and mobility have moved end point expectations beyond the current delivery aspirations of many IT functions.”
Commenting on the need for cultural change, Vlad said: “The IT function has been delivering in the same way for 20 years, but the end point has moved on. Organisations must evaluate their strategy and whether the systems and tools they have available are going to deliver.”

Apadmi, who hosted the forum, believes that good technology providers have entered the field of organisational change management where systems should take account of, and help define, the strategic direction of the business. Matt Hunt of Apadmi works with companies looking for mobility solutions and applications, “We find that getting the stakeholders in one room generates a wider strategic discussion and this is where we can facilitate how businesses can develop mobility solutions that don’t answer the issues of here and now, but that support transition and success.”
The forum, held in Manchester at the end of May, welcomed businesses including Bank of America, The Co-op, the General Medical Council and Home Retail Group. The event included keynote speeches as well as the opportunity for those attending to have table discussions with a number of mobility experts from Apadmi, Samsung and AirWatch.
