Manchester Digital, the trade association for digital and technology businesses in the North West has welcomed the announcement of Tech North by the right honourable Nick Clegg.
As a new initiative being pioneered by Government to support technology-related businesses and attract inward investment we applaud the intent.
The North is finally getting the recognition it deserves, along with promises of additional support for its digital and tech communities.
The new “virtual hub” was recently launched (22 October) and hopes to bring together the cities of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield and Newcastle and “double tech jobs across the north.”
Katie Gallagher, managing director of Manchester Digital, said, “Tech North is a good concept and we are hoping to lend our support to this initiative. We look forward to working with partners across the North to add further shape to the scheme. There are already a number of existing initiatives in place which would flourish with additional support, funding and and political backing.”
