What does your organisation do?

Nublue is an e-commerce solutions agency, providing web design, development and hosting expertise to produce high-end online stores. A Magento Professional partner, our 44 strong team of designers, developers and digital strategists specialises in creating beautiful, technically excellent and conversion-focussed e-commerce websites with expertly managed superfast hosting as standard.

What do you think is currently the biggest issue facing the digital and tech industry?

The skills shortage continues to be a problem affecting everyone in the digital sector and outside as more companies look to bring technical knowledge in-house. Coupled with the speed of innovation and change in the sector, it's a job to keep up to date with regulation & trends and keep the team up to date with their knowledge and personal development.

What is your organisation's biggest achievement?

Out biggest achievement this year is becoming a Magento Professional Partner and opening our Manchester office of course :) It is great to be recognised by Magento for the great work the team has done with Magento Commerce over the last few years and the Manchester office has opened up a lot of new opportunities to us and given us renewed ambition to continue our growth story.

What would you consider to be your organisation's biggest challenge?

Recruiting and training the best possible team.

What do you think the future looks like for Manchester's digital and tech sector?

I think the future is bright. We looked at Manchester because of its growing reputation as a digital and technical hub, specifically within the ecommerce sector. I think the draw of Manchester for digital companies will continue to bring in the big names and the aspirational start-ups alike, which has to be a good thing!

Tell us something we might not know about your company?

We were founded by two brothers, Tom and Michael Ashworth 13 years ago and our first home was at the Infolab at Lancaster University. We now have our HQ in Lancaster city centre and opened a small office in Manchester at Piccadilly Gardens earlier this year.
