Whilst most students will be Christmas shopping or enjoying the seasonal festivities this weekend, a select few will testing their hacking skills, taking on the GreatUniHack challenge. Metronet (UK) is proud to partner with Manchester Science Partnerships in supporting the bi-annual 'Hackathon' hosted at MSP's state-of-the-art Citylabs building.
The event will take place on 5th & 6th December and students from around the country will compete, with a chance to either win sponsored challenges, or simply to test their limits and ideas. Speed and reliability are key to the success of the event, therefore Metronet (UK) were approached to provide ultrafast wireless Internet to ensure the ‘hackers’ have all the bandwidth they require; especially as each attendee will have up to three devices connected to the Internet.
The ‘hackers’ will consist of teams of three coders from The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University and the organisers are expecting over 150 students to take part in this highly competitive event. Over the weekend, there will also be fun mini side events, challenges and team building sessions.
“One of the key challenges in hosting a successful ‘Hackathon’ is providing flawless Internet connectivity for all participants” said Tom Renn, Associate Commercial Director of Manchester Science Partnership. “We’re grateful to Metronet (UK) for supporting our event by providing high speed complimentary wireless connectivity and we’re confident that the bandwidth and reliability of Metronet (UK)’s Internet solution will exceed our expectations”.
