Next year sees the introduction of a new right to Shared Parental Leave (although employees will receive legal protection from 1 December 2014). The right will allow both parents to share the statutory maternity leave and pay which is currently only available to mothers.
At the Bigger Breakfast session, MLP Solicitors will cover the key points of the legislation, as well as look at some of the trickier issues such as dealing with periods of discontinuous leave. Delegates will have the opportunity to raise any questions they may have on the new right with MLP’s team of employment law experts.
The event will take place on Wednesday 24 September 2014 from 8am to 9.30am at MLP Solicitors’ offices on 7 Market Street, Altrincham, WA14 1QE. Breakfast will be provided to all attendees and will be served from 7.30am.
MLP Solicitors has also produced a Shared Parental Leave Toolkit which includes a Shared Parental Leave Policy, FAQs and standard forms to ensure that the process of employees applying for the right is as smooth as possible. This will be available at the event.
