It was with great sadness that we heard of the sudden death of Richard Nash at the weekend (8 March).
Richard, a former Manchester Digital council member, was well-known in the digital sector. He founded the Manchester Business Consortium and helped set up the hugely successful Selling on the Web events which brought many people into e-business, some without any technical skills or education. Few initiatives will have had such a direct impact on the ‘digital divide’.
Richard stood for election to the Manchester Digital Council in November 2006 and served for over two years, after being re-elected in Jan 2008. Many will remember his positive and enthusiastic approach. Come ‘any other business’ you could be sure Richard would have something to contribute.
In recent years Richard has been working for Tameside Metropolitan Council, where I have had the pleasure of working with him on projects. Richard has helped lead a group of digital-sector businesses in Tameside as well as working on other projects supporting local business.
Our thoughts are with his family.
