The Big Chip Awards celebrate excellence in the digital sector across the North of England. This year has seen a record number of 258 submissions from 152 organisations, freelancers and educational institutions with 58 making the shortlist for one of 17 different award categories.

Chairman of Manchester Digital and Big Chip organiser Shaun Fensom said: "The Tasty Website Award is all about recognising a website that, although it may not fit precisely with an existing award category, is, well, a great website!.

"All companies entering the Big Chip Awards were asked whether they wanted to have their entry submitted for the Tasty Website Award and the judges picked out their favourites. There are no strict criteria for the Tasty Website Award – ultimately it’s a matter of taste – which is why we open the award to popular vote; we want everyone who is passionate about digital to have their say."

The Big Chip Award judges who created the Tasty Website shortlist included Enda Carey from Vision and Media, Julie Meyer from Ariadne Capital, Jon Myers from Yahoo, Thayer Prime, Dr David Kreps from Salford University, Steve Smith, Industry Director, ICT – Liverpool Vision, Alasdair Rawsthorne, Founder Transitive, Manchester University and will be chaired by New Media Age Editor in Chief Michael Nutley.
