From start up to industry leader: The Insights Family's journey with Manchester Met

Nick Richardson, Founder of The Insights Family

The Insights Family, a Manchester-based start-up, has quickly become a global leader in real-time market intelligence for kids, teens, parents, and families. Their impressive growth, marked by securing £5.6 million in investment and building a prestigious client base including BBC Studios and Disney. It’s a prime example of how to harness innovation for those operating in the market intelligence and data sectors – or indeed any high-growth digital and tech companies.

Founder of The Insights Family, Nick Richardson emphasises that such success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Manchester Metropolitan University:

“Our partnership with Manchester Met has had an entirely positive impact. Without the University’s research and innovation capabilities, our chances of achieving this level of success would have been drastically lower.”

The key to their success were Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) with Manchester Met, which connected them with academic expertise in data science and psychology. These partnerships led to significant innovations, such as a market segregation tool using AI and psychological profiling, and helped the company scale up to a global workforce of over 60. The ongoing collaboration with Manchester Met, includes recruiting talented university students and graduates, and accessing innovation vouchers, has been crucial in maintaining their competitive edge and supporting long-term growth.
