Manchester Met Business Technology students leading the way

BSC_Lovelace_Conference

On February 15th, three of our second year BSc (Hons) Business Technology students, Rabia Khawar, Maria Alamgir and Maida Alamgir, have successfully been accepted to present in the upcoming BCSWomen Lovelace conference poster competition. The conference is uniquely organised for female students of computing and related disciplines and was originally scheduled to take place at Lancaster University, but due to the pandemic, it will be once again a virtual conference this year.

Over the past couple of weeks, the students has been working hard to prepare for this competition. After several rigorous revisions, they have successfully submitted the following poster and presentation recording for the competition.

Is AI the Next Big Thing in Retail Industry? (2:43) - Rabia Khawar
Can a robot look after of our health? (2:55) - Maria Alamgir
In Healthcare: Fantasy or Reality? (2:50) - Maida Alamgir

Here's what their supervisor, Dr Pin Shen Teh, has to say of them:

The quality of the work is astonishing and beyond expectation. More importantly their dedication, persistence, willingness to improve and ability to fit this into their existing commitments is unbelievable. It’s been a pleasure working with them throughout this project and to see them improved so much since they first joined us. I just hope that they were not competing with each other in the same best second year category which is sponsored by Amazon. However, regardless of the competition outcome, they are, in my view, already champions, made ManMet proud and role models for our university students.

We wish them all the best for the competition.
