On the Beach launches unique competition for local students

The UK’s leading beach holiday specialist On the Beach, is running a competition offering students the chance to win a bespoke work experience day in one of their award-winning digital departments, as part of the Digital Skills Festival 2016.

On the Beach, which was named Business of the Year at the 2015 MEN Awards, will give the winners the opportunity to spend a whole day with either its fast-paced, agile and forward-thinking web development team or with the online travel agents award-winning digital marketing team. The day will be tailored to the winners’ aspirations and interests, ensuring they can get the most out of the day to improve their career prospects.

At the end of this unique experience, each winner will receive a participation pack including a completion certificate, outlining the achievements of the day signed by either Alistair Daly (Chief Marketing Officer) or Jonathan Smith (Chief Technology Officer).

To enter, interested students are required to share an image or statement representing “Working On the Beach” on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #OTBPickMe.

Entries must also include the hashtag #MarketingOTB or #DevOTB; depending on which department is of interest to the individual.

Jonathan Smith, Chief Technology Officer at On the Beach comments:

“As a local business, we are always looking out for new digital talent. We run a Ruby Academy for aspiring Ruby web developers to join our team at entry level and this year, we wanted to offer another opportunity for students who want to get a feel for what we do in our fast-paced, digital environment, either in our award-winning marketing or development teams.

The competition will take place all day on Wednesday 10 February and any student interested in a digital career can apply during the course of the day.
