Lancashire based Magento ecommerce agency Nublue have recently tapped into the fresh-faced talent of 2018 graduates as they continue to grow their range of digital talent. With recruits coming in to all parts of the company, from Marketing to Hosting Support and Client Services to Web Development, 14% of the Nublue team now consists of graduates.
By investing in graduates, Nublue are helping to bridge the skills gap in the digital and technology industries in Lancashire and the North West. Providing promising talent with structured training and career opportunities, the Lancaster based company are playing their part in upskilling and nurturing the next generation of digital professionals in the area.
Through their graduate recruitment scheme, Nublue provide their graduates not only with industry leading training, but also a mentor and a Personal Development Plan as an avenue of support and personal growth. The role of the mentor consists of being a touch point for the new employee to discuss aspects of the role or provide personal support. The benefits of this scheme, as explained by a current mentor Katherine Bell (Senior Partnerships and Event Executive), include:
“Providing the mentee with someone who can share their experience and expertise with and to make informed decisions in a safe space to help them grow in a personal and professional capacity. The scheme has further positive benefits for the company as a whole, boosting the motivation and engagement of the workforce.”
Nublue’s Kate Brassington, Graduate Marketing Assistant, shares her excitement to becoming the newest member of the team:
“One of the main selling points for me about Nublue was their emphasis on employee morale and training. They don’t just care about training you to be the next ecommerce guru, they genuinely care about your personal development as well. Having a Personal Development Plan in place allows me to set achievable and manageable goals, while having a mentor to soundboard ideas off has given me the confidence to aim for the goals and career progression I’ve always wanted.”
Creating career opportunities for local graduates has also allowed Nublue to capitalise on talent who want to stay in the area after they graduate. Letting them grow not only their team, but also moving the digital community forward to become contenders on the global stage. This can only be attractive for potential clients as a diverse range of skills and talents are used to address complex projects at all levels, achieving beautifully bespoke solutions for each project.
Thelma Aye, HR and Talent Consultant for Nublue, shares her insights:
“By adding expertise to the digital community from the surrounding area, while likewise training in the personal interests of the individual, we are also contributing to the local community through our own growth. Taking on graduates from a range of ages, genders and local universities allows diversity to foster creativity and innovation.”
