Lord Grade will be appointed as Ofcom’s new Chair following his appearance at the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
Lord Grade’s appointment as Chair begins on 1 May 2022 and is for a four-year term.
Maggie Carver, who has been interim Ofcom Chair since January 2021, will resume her role as deputy chair.
The Chair plays a crucial role in governing Ofcom, overseeing our statutory responsibilities, and setting our strategic direction.
About Lord Grade
Lord Grade has had a long career in broadcasting, encompassing London Weekend Television, the BBC, ITV, as well as over nine years as Chief Executive of Channel Four Television. He was Chairman of the BBC from 2004 to 2006, and Executive Chairman of ITV from 2006 to 2009.
