Almost half (48%) of people surveyed, said lack of local customer support and technical knowledge would make them move hosts, as opposed to just 21% who said a price hike would force them to make the change. In addition, 71% said they simply couldn’t spare the time or risk disrupting their site with a web host move.
Although costs can vary hugely between different levels of service, this new research has shown that many businesses are willing to pay more to get a high quality level of customer support. Non-UK support centres topped the list for the reasons why people would swap their web hosting company.
For many business websites, an outage can result in substantial revenue loss and business disruption. Therefore it’s surprising to discover just over a third (34%) would only consider changing host after experiencing between three and five incidents of website crashes in a year.
Technical director at 34SP.com, Daniel Foster, said: “At 34SP.com we know the value businesses place on having a dedicated and competent customer support team. That’s why we offer high levels of technical support, with a team of professionally trained, English speaking technical experts.”
“Our research shows that businesses are moving away from cheaper hosting packages and are now willing to invest in a professional web host that provides a fully comprehensive package including excellent technical support.”
“With the many software bugs coming to light in recent months, including Heartbleed, Shellshock and Poodle, security is a huge concern. Businesses need to know that their web hosts will act immediately to patch up any vulnerabilities.”
