The Rybec Group Graduates from The Plexal, Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) Cyber Runway Grow program

The Rybec Group, a cyber security consultancy based in Doncaster, Hull, and Digital Security Hub (DiSH) Manchester, has just wrapped up its participation in the prestigious Cyber Runway Grow program. This initiative, led by Plexal, the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), is all about giving fast-growing, dynamic cyber security firms the tools, advice, and connections they need to thrive.

The team at The Rybec Group isn’t your run-of-the-mill tech consultancy. The co-founders Chris Eastwood and Alistair Kennedy both have a background in cyber-crime investigation, working directly with both cyber-crime offenders and victims. They have witnessed the devastating effects cyber-crime can wreak firsthand, and now they are leveraging that experience to help businesses stay secure. Their flagship service, Cyber Security Compliance as a Service, ensures companies stay ahead of potential threats and meet regulatory requirements.

“We spent years in law enforcement dealing with the impact of cyber enabled crime,” says Co-Founder Chris Eastwood. “It’s not just about catching the criminals—it’s about understanding their criminal mind set, tactics and targets. Completing the Cyber Runway Grow program is like a springboard for us to apply that knowledge on a larger scale, protecting more businesses both locally and internationally.”

The Cyber Runway program has equipped The Rybec Group with elite mentors, valuable connections, and practical advice on refining their strategy. It’s primed them to expand their client base and tackle the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.

With bases in Doncaster, Hull, and Manchester, The Rybec Group is dedicated to making cyber security accessible for businesses of all sizes. Their law enforcement background gives them a unique perspective—blending insights into criminal behaviour with effective security measures.

“We’re excited to have been part of this journey with Plexal, the UK government DSIT, and CSIT,” adds Alistair Kennedy, co-founder. “It’s an endorsement of our approach, and it’s armed us with the resources and connections to keep growing—helping more companies stay ahead of cyber threats.”

Looking forward, The Rybec Group plans to deepen its presence in the UK market and explore opportunities overseas. They will continue leveraging their crime-fighting experience to deliver smart, compliance-focused solutions that make a real impact.
